ZIM Australia Brings a New Kind of Cool

Australia is blessed with a natural environment suitable for growing a large range of high-quality products – from the finest dairy and freshest seafood to premium meat and delicious fruits.

The citrus fruits make up most of the country’s exports, with citrus growers well placed throughout the country to provide exceptionally tasty citrus from winter through to summer. These include the beloved navel oranges, mandarins and lemons destined to reach major global markets such as China, Southeast Asia, the United States and Japan, where their sweet, juicy flavor is quite popular.

ZIM appeared on the scene of the citrus market like a refreshing wave of energy, just in time when the harvest season was at its peak and demand was at an all-time high. Since citrus fruits require great care due to their sensitivity to temperature changes during transport, ZIM’s Cold-Treatment facilities and advanced ZIMonitor capabilities, both offering a 24/7 global customer service, certainly proved their worth in keeping them safe throughout their long journey.

A refreshing change

ZIM’s market presence in Australia remains strong with 700 weekly reefer plugs and three direct express routes (CAX, C2A and C3A) connecting Australia to key destination ports in Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Japan, and China, not to mention a standalone service between Australia and New Zealand, which was well-received among customers as a major achievement, providing a solution to the large demand in both countries for fresh melons, bananas, as well as dairy and frozen meat.

Looking back at the past year’s success of these four direct routes, ZIM Australia has successfully reached a wide network and is continuously looking to broaden these services to new markets such as Japan, the US East and West coast, and the Mediterranean.

Arti Suchak – ZIM Australia Business Development Manager, adds her personal accomplishment of adding Haifa as one of Australia’s export destinations for frozen products, expressing that being an Israeli leading shipping company, “there’s nothing like shipping our local Australian products to Haifa!”

Challenge? We say fresh opportunity.

Mother nature has proved more of a challenge than usual for this year’s Australian harvests, with heavy rainfalls and floods hitting the country, ultimately damaging crops intended for exports. Suchak explains that even in circumstances like these, ZIM goes the extra mile to ensure customers can meet their deadlines by supporting with rolling and accommodating their cargo ahead of schedule. She adds that this was truly possible thanks to the local customer service and dedicated reefer team in all three ZIM Australia branches.

New year, fresh possibilities

As ZIM Australia’s network grows, we are always on the lookout to reach new potential markets and diversifying ZIM’s commodity portfolio to include fresh avocados among other high-value products, to be widely available for all customer base, especially BCO’s, freight forwarders, and small and medium enterprises – assisting wherever and whenever possible. Suchak adds: “2022 has been a record year as we’ve managed to increase our book of business tremendously and growth has been considerably high in all ports of loading in the country.”

We hope to welcome the new year with a fresh sense of optimism and more achievements for our customers!
